Say hello to Mrs. Anita Vincent, one of the newest members of our BECAHI faculty this year! #BCFacultyFeature
WHAT IS YOUR HOMETOWN & STATE?
I come from the South Indian city of Bangalore (also known as the Silicon Valley of India), in the state of Karnataka. My mother tongue is Tamil, and I am fluent in 4 other languages besides English and biblical Hebrew.
WHAT SUBJECT(S) & GRADE(S) DO YOU TEACH?
I teach Theology to juniors and seniors this year.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT TEACHING?
I am always energized when I teach, whether it is the little ones or adults or the in-between's! I enjoy engaging the students in conversations that help them grapple with questions about issues of social justice, biblical interpretation and ecclesiology.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF BECAHI?
My favorite part of BECAHI is the diversity of the student body - diversity across virtually every dimension: gender, race, ethnicity, learning ability, faith traditions, socio-economic backgrounds, etc. I love that we can all come together in a classroom, and become a community that supports and cares for each other.
WHAT DOES TEACHING IN A FAITH-BASED ENVIRONMENT MEAN TO YOU?
As a Theology teacher, this is perfect for me. What other high school could I be teaching theology at? The faith-based environment sets the foundation for everything that I do in the classroom, and it is within the context of a professed faith community that I can most effectively engage my students in conversations that allow them to ponder through and wrestle with their own identity and role in the larger society.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?
My favorite food is fish curry and rice.
