#BCFamilyFaces is our regular bi-monthly series showcasing members of our faculty, staff, alumni, volunteers, and more! This month we’re sending our love to Ms. Candy Gordy, our Volunteer Receptionist.
WHAT'S YOUR HOMETOWN?
I currently live with my 4 grand-kids in Palmer Township.
WHY ARE YOU AT BECAHI?
I wanted to volunteer somewhere instead of just sitting around the house so, I decided to check to see the schools my grand-kids attend. My oldest grand-daughter and grandson were here. My grand-daughter graduated last year and is now at Muhlenberg College. My grandson is a sophomore. Next year, my other grand-daughter will be a freshman. In 2024, my last grand-daughter will be here.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF BEING AT BECAHI?
I'm from New Jersey and really did not know anyone in Pennsylvania. Being at BECAHI has allowed me to meet the wonderful staff, parents and students. Joy can be real only if we look at our life as a service, and I am the living proof.
WHAT'S YOUR ADVICE TO CURRENT STUDENTS?
My favorite saying - I used to train my Managers with this, always asking them to memorize it. “The one thing that you have, no one else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story and your passion. Start every day Your Way. But, remember, FAITH is the ROCKETFUEL of all human endeavors. ALWAYS give THANKS TO GOD first, without HIM you wouldn't have anything to be THANKFUL FOR!” I don't remember where I found this, but it has been my favorite since I was young.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC?
Classical music is my favorite – I listen to it all day here. You can come and listen anytime!
